The KAGURA HOUSE is located in front of the residence of Tadakatsu Sakai, who was the Grand Elder (current Prime Minister) during the reign of Iemitsu, the third Shogun of the Edo period (1603-1868).

On an Edo period map, KAGURA HOUSE is located where the Omochizutsu-gumi Kumiyashiki (artillery under the direct control of the shogunate) was located, and it has been an important base for the shogunate since the Edo period.

The third shogun, Iemitsu, passed through Kagurazaka and frequently visited the residence of Tadakatsu Sakai.
